Justice Peace & Service

Our Mission:

As Catholics we are called by God to protect human life, to promote human dignity, to defend those who are poor, and to seek the common good. This is the social mission of the Church and the mission of the Justice Peace & Service Committee.

Our Purpose:

To respond to the immediate needs of our neighbor who is perhaps hurting, hungry, homeless, sick, homebound, institutionalized, ignored, forgotten, feared and disliked because of race, color, creed, language, culture, gender and age.

Areas of Service:

• Offering support through various parish ministries (Care Ministry, Stephen Ministry, Bereavement Ministry, visitation to sick, homebound, nursing homes, etc.)
• Providing support for our Sister Parish in Haiti (collecting items for medical missions, making cards for Haiti, keeping parish informed, etc.)
• Welcoming diverse peoples to the parish, especially our Hispanic population in the area (looking for ways to link the cultures and to seek involvement of new members)
• Promoting parish involvement in community outreach efforts (Love Life, Habitat for Humanity, NEW Shelter, Helping Hands, etc.)

Qualifications of a committee member:

This area of ministry requires a sense of community, connectedness, respect, tolerance, forgiveness and strength to reach out and make a difference. To listen; to care; to respond to our community in need.

How do you become a committee member:

You may sign up during our Annual Call to Stewardship Campaign; contact a committee member with an interest to attend an orientation meeting; or call the Parish Office (920) 468-7848

Length of Commitment: usually a 1-year term
Meeting time: Often 2nd Thursday of the month (as needed); 8:00-9:30 am; Adult Center
