Charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism are the principles of the Knights of Columbus, while 1.7 million members give service to the church, community, council, family and youth. The group at St Philip officially known as the Msgr. Basche Council #4505, was chartered in 1957, just over 50 years ago.
Membership currently stands at 120 and meets monthly to set its charitable schedule of events (1st Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at St Philip). These events range from helping elderly in the parish shovel snow and mow laws, to collecting donations for Tootsie Rolls to help handicapped citizens.
One of the pillars of the organization is supporting priests and the churches stand for pro-life. On the social side, the council has family activities like the annual Wives Appreciation Dinner and a night at the Bullfrog's Game. The largest fundraisers are a magic show and the annual girl's grade school basketball tournament.
