"Lord, make me a channel of your peace."   So prayed St. Francis of Assisi… "where there's despair in life, let me bring hope …where there is darkness…let me bring light."  And the miracle of miracles… "it is in giving of ourselves that we receive."   All who have joined our mission trips over the year's remark on the blessings received from working on community projects in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.   Would you be interested in joining us next year?

Who can go on these trips?     We are women and men, single and married; we have had women religious, permanent deacons and priests join us; most of us are Catholics, but not all; and, ages have ranged from teenagers (accompanied with a parent) to seniors.

What do we do?   We choose from construction project requests from Catholic parishes in the Diocese of San Juan in the Dominican Republic (and a neighboring parish across the border in Haiti).   In previous years we have helped build small rural chapels and schools, we've added class rooms to larger schools, and rebuilt over 600 school desks.   These projects vary from year to year, but always working alongside members of the local community, doing whatever we can to help.   Some of come with construction skills, and the rest of us 'learn on the job.'
